It is with regret that we have belatedly learned of the passing of Herbert W. (Bill) Browning on 11/13/2012 at age 87 at his home in Shrewsbury, VT. A WWII veteran, Bill held a naval commission as a LTJG prior to entering the college, but chose to go through the cadet program. Bill entered Maritime with the class of 1953, but graduated in only three years, with the class of 1952. As Bill spent his mug year with the '53 class, he felt that he belonged more to that class. Bill was a 30 year resident of South Salem, NY where he taught math in the local junior high school. Upon his retirement, he moved near the shores of Lake Waccabuc VT into a log cabin home. He was survived by his wife of 56 years, Joanne, his daughter, Joanne Berkowitz and two sons, William and Thomas along with several grandchildren. John Ingraham '52
