Details:
Sad news to report, that after a lengthy illness the passing away of DUNCAN (CHIP) WIMPERIS in Chula Vista, CA on Satuday 5 April 2003 at the young age of 55. He was a native of NY. He lived in Walnut Creek, CA for twelve years and a resident of Chula Vista for the last five years. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Minerva (Minnie) Ramos Wimperis, and his son Andrew. He is also survived by his father, Edwin of New York and three brothers Edwin III, Bruce and William.

Chip was a Marine Engineer and had traveled to many parts of the world while working for the Marine Dept. of Texaco, Inc. for 15 years and lastly for the Department of the Navy's Military Sealift Command Pacific HQ in Oakland, CA and San Diego, CA for 16 years. He had been a long standing Type Desk and Director for MSCPAC and NFAF West in charge of the TAOE project.

Before I retired from MSCPAC in 2000, I had the distinct pleasure, as a "decky" in Operations, of working with Chip not only with the Oilers, but also with the TATF (Fleet Tugs) program. The two of us would frequently reminisce about our years at the "Fort" with more than fond and fun memories. I am sure anyone who has had any contact with Chip has always found him to be a most likeable, cooperative and soft spoken gentleman in the truest sense of the word. With out a doubt, he will be greatly missed by all his associates. God's speed, Chip, in crossing the Bar.

Bob Stickle, (1959)
