It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of the passing of our friend and colleague
ALAN GARLAND on the morning of 16 January, 2005. Al has been a MSC Lant employee since 1986, and has probably been on every one of our ships in his capacity as a MRE team leader, SMART team coordinator, and Engineering Services group supervisor. Before MSC, Al graduated from NY State Maritime Academy in 1969, and sailed for various shipping companies, rising to Chief Engineer, as well as a shoreside career with US Salvage Association. We will miss Al for the knowledge, experience, humor and friendship that he shared with the MSCLant community.
Al is survived by his wife Kathy and his son Lucas, mother Shirley Garland, brothers Bruce and Phil and sister Carole. There will be a private memorial service for Al on Saturday for his family, followed by an open house for his friends at their residence: 118 Wards Road, Knotts Island, NC 27950, ph (252)429-3221 , from 12:00 - 2:00 on Saturday, 22 January, 2005.
