GEORGE ROGERS passed away on April 23, 2005 after courageously battling Asbestosis for a year. George spent his Sea Time on AMO (MEBA 2) Tankers finished up on the Zapata Patriot Class. He then went ashore for OMI(and then MTL) and served as Superintendent for the Zapata Class until they reached the end of their OPA life.
When one of his ships had a problem, George could direct the crew to a fix by phone or to the location of a spare part or a used but good part onboard. The Companies he worked for will never realize what he saved them.
In our profession we do have the need periodically to put our lives in trust with another to accomplish our work, George was one of those good guys you simply could trust. We will miss him.
George is survived by his son Greg, his Daughter and his Grandson.
