Forums (also known as "bulletin boards" or "threaded discussion lists" allow members to carry on discussions of various topics by posting messages and responding to prior messages at their convenience. Unlike "chat rooms", discussions do not have to take place in real-time.

Members may start new "threads" or discussions on a topic or respond to comments already made by other members on a given topic.
